An Exciting New Quarry Hall Release For Michelle Levigne

All day today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating Michelle Levigne's exciting new Quarry Hall release!

DARCY by Michelle Levigne

Quarry Hall Book Four

Black Ops doesn’t begin to describe Vincent’s former paramilitary team.

When a friend of the Arc Foundation requests help for a rescue mission facing scandal, he learns two former teammates are involved. Vincent must investigate for the sake of his conscience, but can his instincts be trusted? Who has reformed, and who still waits to destroy those who betrayed him years ago, when their team disintegrated?

Joan comes along, to provide balance and a second pair of eyes. Josh is in charge of renovations. Karl is the fundraiser. Darcy, Josh’s daughter, is an idealistic young woman ready to give her life for what she believes. As Vincent and Joan track down the enemies of the mission, they uncover lies and an insidious scheme, with Darcy as pawn and prize.

  1. Good morning Michelle and super congrats on your June release, DARCY, the fourth book in your Quarry Hall Series with Desert Breeze!

For those not familiar with your Quarry Hall Series, can you tell us more about it? How do the books connect? How many more do you plan for the series?

You've been pretty busy so far this year, can you give us a sneak peek at what else you have planned for the year?

Best of luck with DARCY and here's to it being your biggest seller yet! Enjoy your special day!

  2. Hi Michelle, Congrats on your new release. I am a huge Highlander fan, the first movie and then the TV series, so I would love a copy of Blade of Innocence. Your new series sounds exciting. What made you decide to revise the original book for this new series? Best wishes!

    1. Thanks for visiting the Cyber Launch, Kelley!
Well, writers never throw out anything. I just held onto it in my files until I found some place where I could rewrite it and re-use it.
Fitting the Spike Center -- the rescue mission -- into the mission of Quarry Hall and the Arc Foundation seemed the perfect match.

Vincent gets most of Duncan's lines and action, and some of Joan's actions and lines originally belonged to Joe Dawson and Amanda. Of course, there was a lot I had to delete -- the head-chopping, the Quickening, the flashbacks to 100 years before .... I'm pleased with how much I was able to keep, though.

You're the first one to enter the drawing. Right now, odds are very good for you getting a copy! Hope you enjoy it.

  3. Quarry Hall is geographically and physically based on Stan Hywet Hall in Akron, the Seiberling mansion. I visited it on a field trip in high school and fell in love. So when I mention things like the beech tree alley, the stables, the morning room, the music room, and the staircase hidden inside the wall, those are real places/elements of the house and grounds.

Quarry Hall is the headquarters of the Arc Foundation, a philanthropic organization that concentrates on helping the little people who fall through the cracks. They believe in hands-on work, instead of just throwing money at the problem and depending on other people to get the job done. That means that the "daughters" of Quarry Hall are there on the front lines, getting their hands dirty ... and getting shot at, sometimes. They walk into danger with their eyes wide open. And they don't go alone -- each one has some high-tech gear, designed by Joan and Sophie, along with training in hand-to-hand combat and bodyguards in the form of big, strong, dangerously intelligent dogs.

Darcy is a recycled or "cannibalized" fan novel I wrote a long time ago for the Highlander TV series. I've kept a few things -- Darcy, her parents' names and backgrounds, the name of the rescue mission. Other things, I had to discard, like people running around chopping others' heads off and the lightning effects of the Quickening.

Some inside info: Vincent has most of Duncan MacLeod's lines. Action and words for Joe Dawson and Amanda were given to Joan. I had to discard some of the background info/flashbacks for Vincent/Duncan and Josh because ... well, it's too far back in history to be believable!

For those who leave comments/ask questions AND include their email address, your names will go into a drawing for one of the few remaining copies of the Highlander novel, BLADE OF INNOCENCE.

What's coming up? I'm working on the 5th Quarry Hall novel, NIKKI. If you've read other Quarry Hall books, and you've visited the Tabor Heights series (specifically, Joan and Forgiven) then you know some of Nikki's background, the fact she ran away from home, the tragedy that occurred before she got her life back on track. NIKKI is the story of how the runaway was brought home, and almost lost her life before she got her soul back. Look for it in late 2014/early 2015.

    Anybody have any questions?

  4. Okay, it's graduation season, and I'm heading off to a party for the son of a friend -- but I will be back, maybe around 4:30. So TALK! Ask questions! I'll answer them as soon as I get back. And thanks for coming!

  5. Anybody familiar with the residents of Quarry Hall? Anyone whose story you want to read in the future? I have a big contract with no titles specified -- just a number of books to write, so there's a lot of flexibility.

I have another story about Anne planned. You'll get to meet some of the Quarry Hall girls who you've heard about, such as Su-Ma. Connie and Sara show up in NIKKI, so maybe we'll have a story about each of them later.

When you meet Jennifer Deverall in "The Mission," you hear a little bit about her life-threatening injury -- how about her story?

Lots more to write about and plenty of leeway. Let me know what you'd like to learn about!
