A New Paranormal Gay Erotic Romance From Bestselling Amber Allure Author Carolina Valdez

Today we're celebrating a new Amber Allure release for bestselling author Carolina Valdez.

Carolina warns not to be fooled by the photo. "Even if you walk most of the race, you want to be sure to break into a run for the camera." Although most of her running days have morphed into walking days, she's completed over a hundred distance races - six of them marathons. Her short story about a murder on the streets she's actually competed on, in the Los Angeles Marathon, appears in a Sisters in Crime/Los Angeles anthology.

After a varied career as a registered nurse while winning awards and making sales writing freelance, she decided to retire to finish her first novel. Now she writes about searing passions and the sweetly explosive ecstasies of love.

NIGHT TRAIN TO NAPLES by Carolina Valdez

After seven-hundred years, Alexandros Nicolaides has adjusted to life as an immortal. Employed by a New Orleans diamond courier, the gemologist travels to Italy in the hope of gaining a new customer for that business. On the night train to Naples, he confirms what he's suspected - someone is following him.

Human Dante Rocco has his reasons for tailing the tall blond, yet unaware he follows an immortal, he's in for a fearful shock. But when Alex rescues Dante from thugs bent on evil, a hot, urgent sexual bond flares between them.

As Alex and Dante struggle with the reality of their intense relationship, they soon discover that they're now the ones being pursued - by an unstable, vengeful vampire...

  1. Congrats on the new release Carolina!!! I love the sound of this and I just finished reading the excerpt - wonderful!

Where did the idea for this story come from? And tell us a little bit about your other Gay paranormal and what you're working on now.

  2. Good morning! It's quite early here in southern California, and I haven't had my coffee yet.

The first thing I knew about this story was that it was to be set in Italy for the THAT'S AMORE AmberPax. There are five stories by different authors in the Pax, and we all had to write a story set somewhere in Italy. I chose Naples because I'd researched and written about that part of the world in WHERE VESUVIUS SLEEPS.

This alliterative title popped into my head, and then I had to figure out who would be traveling on that train at night. The next step was easy--Vampires are the ones who must travel at night.

    My story is at http://www.amberquill.com/AmberAllure/NightTrainToNaples.html

The Pax can be found at http://www.amberquill.com/AmberAllure/AA_Pax.html

  3. TWILIGHT was my first gay paranormal, but it contains Shapeshifters, not Vampires. It's a rancher's story, and twilight is an important element in the story.

"Cade Montana’s life is good, but an abrupt, horrifying shift in his nature due to an ancient quirk in his Native DNA threatens to destroy happiness and love."

I'm finishing up another Shapeshifter novella, and this one features night - INHABITING THE NIGHT: TIGER TIGER. Once they're both available electronically, they'll be combined into a paperback just as DESIRE: HOT & SWEET, my contest prize today, combines two novellas.

  4. Just checking to see if my second post made it here.

  5. Oh I love vampires and shapeshifters, so I'll be checking both your paranormal books out. Are you planning another vampire storie too that can be combined in paperback with your new one?

How did you get into writing m/m and is that all you write?

  6. Hi Katie:

Checking out my paranormal books? Great!

Yes, Alex and Dante's story will continue in the sequel, NIGHT TRAIN TO NAPLES: NEW ORLEANS. I haven't begun it yet. Have to finish INHABITING THE NIGHT first.

I do have three erotic m/f paranormals (Portal To Darkness, Woman In Black Lace and Tears Of The Dragon), but suddenly readers lost interest in the m/f erotic stories and the market withered and died. Instead, gay erotic stories became "hot" with readers. And, amazingly, those readers are mostly female. It was a leap to tackle a gay story, but I'm glad I did. I enjoy writing about the guys.

    Luv ya,
    Carolina

  7. Imagine stalking a hot man and to find out that he is a vampire. And then to top it off, something else is stalking them. Sounds very sci-fi, which I like.

  15. Hi Ashley A:

Got it. Obviously, I'm not a vampire. At least not as far as you know.

I addressed your question in an earlier post--7:09 a.m. You might want to read that and see if it answers your question. If not, write again and I'll see what I can do.

    For Sharon M:

As for the story being SciFi, I understand what you mean. However, the only scientific part, gemology, plays too small a role in the drama, so NIGHT TRAIN's paranormal aspect is classified as Dark Fantasy.

Paranormal, as you know, is just the umbrella under which we tuck everything that's out of the norm. So things like witchcraft, magic, horror, scifi, time travel, vampires, werewolves, etc., are classified according to the publisher's fancy.

At Amber Quill Press, my TEARS OF THE DRAGON is a Fantasy. PORTAL TO DARKNESS, a time travel with mages, witches and wizards, is a Dark Fantasy. Its sequel, WOMAN IN BLACK LACE, is just a time travel.

Thanks for you comments. I'm please to enter each of you in the contest.

  26. Hi Kate:

You mean you aren't familiar with that old Vampire tradition that if you protect someone you're stuck with the job? I'm guessing you've already read NIGHT TRAIN TO NAPLES.

For those of you who've commented, I agree the cover's hot. I'll pass on your kudos to the artist, Trace Edward Zaber, co-owner and creative director of Amber Quill Press. He designs all our covers, and the Web site.

Meanwhile, I'm going to say goodnight.
